Homeostatic mechanisms
Processes that keep a system stable, like how your body maintains temperature.

Our Take
The biologial analogy makes it graspable but the word is forbidding. 'Self-correcting processes' is clearer. The concept matters for resilience thinking: resilient systems have mechanisms that absorb shocks and return to function. An organisational culture that self-corrects toward care is a homeostatic mechanism. When those mechanisms break down, you get cascading fragility.

Complex systems, biology
