Existential risk
Risk of human extinction or permanent civilisational collapse.

Our Take
Powerful label but often overused. Does important work when used precisely and actively harmful alarmist work when applied loosely (every bad outcome labelled 'existential'). The useful distinction is between existential risk (civilisational) and the lived experience of communities for whom the current situation already feels existential. The derailment risk framing is more operationally useful because it names the mechanism, not just the magnitude.
